Exporting a project or parts of it to an HTML Help file
HTML Help is the format on which the help files of many Windows programs are based. It has become somewhat outdated, but is still appreciated by some users. With lexiCan you have the possibility to create a HTML Help file from any project. Unfortunately, this export variant cannot take into account the files contained in a project. The CHM file format does not allow this.
Prerequisite: Microsoft HTML Help Workshop
Prerequisite for this export variant is the installation of Microsoft HTML Workshop on your computer. This program is available for free download from the Microsoft website; search for "HTML Help Workshop".
Exporting a project or parts of it to an HTML Help file
Click on "Export" under "File" (top left) and then on "HTML Help Export".
In the right-hand pane, specify whether you want to export the entire project or only parts of it ("Custom Selection"). If you have defined references and assigned them to articles, you can also export them. They are then displayed as a footnote in the respective article.
If the HTML Help Workshop (see above ) is not installed by default to C:\Program Files (x86), you must specify the exact program path in the following section.
Then click on "Start Export" to start the process.
If you like to export only parts of the project ("Custom Selection"), a selection window will open after the start, where you can choose between the index view and the outline ("Gliederung") view.
In the outline view, you can select entire outline ("Gliederung") branches at once using the context menu with the right mouse button.

After confirming your selection or when exporting the whole project, lexiCan asks you to define the location for the help file. After your definition and confirmation lexiCan starts the process automatically.
When the data export is complete, the HTML Help file is automatically opened, e.g.
